Virat Kohli breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s world record, becomes fastest batsman to score 20,000 International runs
Virat Kohli Record, World Cup 2019: Indian skipper Virat Kohli has broken Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara’s world record and has become the fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs. India’s Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies great Brian Lara had jointly held the record previously.
Virat Kohli Breaks World Record
Virat Kohli who had 19,963 runs before India vs West Indies world cup match, just needed 37 runs to break the record of the fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs. Kohli with his 37 runs not out in India vs West Indies World Cup cricket match 2019 has easily risen to the top of the legends list, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara.
Virat Kohli is currently the top-ranked ODI and test batsman in the world. Virat Kohli, previously had 11087 runs in ODIs, 6613 in Tests and 2263 in T20Is. Both Tendulkar and Lara had taken 453 innings to complete 20,000 international runs. They were followed by former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who scored 20,000 runs in 468 innings.
Virat Kohli has become the 12th batsman in the world to make 20,000 international runs and the third Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar (34,357 runs) and Rahul Dravid (24,208 runs). After getting out early against South Africa in the India’s World Cup opener, Kohli scored 82 runs against Australia and 77 runs against Pakistan.
Kohli previously became the fastest batsman to score 11,000 ODI runs during India vs Pakistan at the same venue, Old Trafford in Manchester.
